Hello Wisconsin Club, Lake Sumter!!!!!
If April Showers Bring May Flowers, what do Mayflowers bring????…. Pilgrims!
(Grandkid humor…. LOVE It!) I’m not sure about the April showers, but I was certainly expecting to find Noah’s Ark floating down the streets earlier this week! WOW!
We had a great turn out for John B & Friends last month. I personally enjoyed the human-interest stories, trivia tidbits, he shared about John Denver. The music brought back some neat memories for me. I learned how to play the acoustic guitar to Country Roads as a young’un. When I heard him sing that song it made me smile.
I see we had 2 new members last month. A big Shout Out and Welcome to Tony and Dianne Caliva, from Franklin! Since our last meeting, I hear we will have some new-bees at our May Picnic too. I look forward to meeting you all. It’s great to see the enthusiasm for our club, even at the end of our year. Regarding our membership, we have 420 members, 286 “PAID” members to date. You may update your membership at any meeting. Your current name badge should read Jan/2019 thru Dec/2019. Thank you all for your support.
GO BUCKS! The Bucks are in the Eastern Conference semifinal series with the Toronto Raptors. As for our Brewers, they lost 2 in a row to the Cubbies (BOO!) That puts the Brewers now in 2nd Place. Stay #BrewerFeverStrong!
Wisconsin/USF bus trip news!
Dick Thies reported 32 paid seats so far! YAY!
Please let Dick know (608-444-9610) to add you to the list, but know you are responsible to go through Senior Adventures to pay for your reservation.
May 20 – Picnic
Thank you to everyone who RSVPed by May 10 for our picnic on Monday, May 20. The Club is providing chicken and ribs from Oakwood Smokehouse Grill as well as plates, napkins, and flatware. Please bring an appetizer, side dish, or dessert to share and your own drink.
After dinner, we’ll have a spirited corn hole tournament. If you want to play, sign up the day of our event. Don’t forget – we will begin at 6:00 p.m., at Colony Cottage Rec Center, in our usual Parlor Room. (We didn’t want to take any chances if it would rain, and we wanted to have enough seating for everyone who’s coming.)
This is our last meeting of the season until we begin our 2019-2010 year on September 16.
Note the earlier 6:00 p.m. start time.
Casino Night and New Meeting Start Time
At our next meeting we will be asking for a show of hands regarding a Casino night that our entertainment committee is working on for March 2020 (cost w/b approx. $25-$35/person). We’d like to see how many members would be interested in that. We are also considering changing our meeting start time from 7 PM to 6:30 (unless posted otherwise for special events) It has been requested that we start a bit earlier…. What do you think?
2019 – 2020 Officer Nominees
We will re-open the Nomination process at Monday’s meeting. Additional Nominees may be considered. We introduced and nominated the slate (below) at our April meeting and will open it to the club 2 more times on May 20th, in accordance with Robert’s Rules of Order.

Thank You Entertainment Committee!
KUDOS to our Entertainment Committee!!!! This group is really stepping to the Plate to make our next year amazing! Jeanne Engle got the ball rolling and handed it off to Dayna Aldrich. The support from the members is impressive. I am really looking forward to this upcoming year’s events. Thank you again to Jeanne and Dayna, and the committee members May Ann & Jerry Denor, Marilyn Butenhof, Joanie Schachter and Linda & David Mathius.
May 4 Golf Outing
Thank you, Marilyn Butenhof, for your efforts to make our golf outing a success.
Mel Warner won closest to the pin for the men. Margaret Haas won closest to the pin for the ladies.
Due to the rain out, additional funds paid for the pitchers of beer after the event. YAY!!
The next outing is scheduled for Sept. 29, 2019
Day Trips 2019/2020
Thank you to Roxanne Evans for going the extra mile and doing some recon for our Club this Fall. Roxanne presented to the Board on May 2nd a few ideas for upcoming Day Trips. They sound like FUN!

It’s been a pleasure and an honor to be your Club President this year. The time just flew by so fast; I can’t believe it’s over. You made it fun for me and I’m hoping you all had a great year with us. With the new board and new entertainment committee, there will be more good times ahead.
I’d like to take this moment to Thank Hal Baumann for 5 years as our Club Treasurer. That’s not an easy job and he did a Yeoman’s effort for us over the years. Thank you, Hal!
