Monthly Meeting Minutes
October 19, 2015
President Helen Feeney called the meeting to order at 7:00PM with The Pledge of Allegiance.
Eight (8) new members were introduced to the club. The membership as of August 16 was 331. This number will be increasing with new members for the 2015-16 season.
Hal Baumann presented the club financial report. As of June 1, the balance was $6,156.26. Income including 50/50 tickets, renewals, new memberships and the Oktoberfest ticket sales and expenses brought the YTD balance to $6,656.63.
- On March 12, 2016 there will be a Club outing to Tampa Bay Downs. The cost of $57/person will include transportation, food and tickets. Two buses have been reserved which will hold up to 56 people. Signups will begin at the November meeting and reservations will only be taken with payment. WI Club Lake Sumter members will have priority for signup. After November 30, it will be opened to the two other WI Clubs until the buses are full.
- The annual Christmas party will be hosted by the Paradise Club and will be held on December 21. Tickets will be $30/person and sales will begin at the November meeting.
- The entertainment for the November 16 meeting will be the Brian LaPalme magic show.
- Reminder was given that Game Night is the 4th Monday of every month at Bacall Recreation Center. Members are free to play any game they choose.
Helen Feeney presented the 2015 Battle at the Villages which is a basketball tournament beginning December 28 and ending December 30. The team brackets will be released sometime in October and tickets will go on sale in November. The teams will consist of freshmen and sophomores and will be coached by legendary team coaches. A flyer was passed out explaining the event.
A member of the WI Club Lake Sumter was part of the Golden Girls of the Villages who recently participated and won at the Senior Games in Huntsman. Congratulations to Barbara Harju!
The meeting adjourned at 7:30 PM and entertainment for the evening was provided by Ron the Music Man celebrating a German theme for the evening. There were drawings for four special prizes and a beer stein holding competition which was won by Bob and Donna. There was a special drawing for a Green Bay Packers leather jacket and the big winner was Pam Rozmenoski.
Dinner was catered by Oakwood.
