Wisconsin Club of Lake Sumter Minutes – General Meeting April 20, 2015

This Meeting started at 6:00 p.m. with a Ho-Down Picnic Potluck Supper.


  1. President, Helen Feeney, called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. with The Pledge of Allegiance.
  2. Secretary’s Report: The Minutes for the March 16, 2015 meeting are available on the Club’s website.
  3. Treasurer’s Report: Hal Baumann presented the March 2015 Report.The previous balance on March 1, 2015 was $5,935.30. Income was $315.00. Expenses were$470.30. Checkbook balance on March 31, 2015 was $5,780.00. The Report was approved as read. Helen Feeney reported that a preliminary estimate of this Club’s income from the Wisconsin Singers March 30 performances will be about $1,700.


  4. Membership: Helen Feeney introduced six new members and two guests. As of March 18, 2015, the Club membership was 290.
  5. Announcements:
    1. “Thank You”: Helen Feeney extended a “thank you” to the following Club members:
      • Scott Dryburgh and Carroll Halsted for putting up the Wisconsin state flag and the UW-Madison banner/flag at each of our meetings.
      • Barb Sphar for her contribution to the Club as Assistant Treasurer/Membership Officer through January, 2015.
      • Joanie Schachtner, newly elected Assistant Treasurer/Membership Officer, took over these duties in March.
      • Judy Cimbalnik for organizing tonight’s Hoe-Down Picnic.
    2. Webmaster/E-mail Coordinator: Hal Baumann announced that the Club is looking for a webmaster/e-mail coordinator since Gary Gerke will resign effective December 31, 2015. This person must have some web design experience. Anyone interested should contact either Helen Feeney at 787-914-7811 or Hal Baumann at 352-259-6552.
    3. Summer Dining Out: Groups are being formed for June, July, August and September. Sign-up deadline is May 15. To sign up or if you have questions contact Judy Cimbalnik at (262) 391-9869 or e-mail: jcjudycim@gmail.com .
    4. Golf Outing: This May 2 event for the three Wisconsin Clubs is filled. Others who are interested should check the website for cancellations.
    5. Wisconsin Club Monogrammed Clothing: Helen reminded members that the Custom Apparel & Gifts (3451 Wedgewood Lane, The Villages, Phone 352-750-1600) monograms clothing for the three Wisconsin Clubs in The Villages.
    6. Relay for Life: Darlyne Jorgenson reminded members about this event that takes place Friday, April 24 from 3:00 – 8:00 p.m. at New Covenant Methodist Church, 3470 Wedgewood Lane, in The Villages.
    7. May 18, 2015 Meeting: Members will meet under the Pergola at Colony Recreation Center at 6:30 p.m. for outdoor games and an old-fashioned Ice Cream Social. An event fee of $3.00 pp will be charged. Ollies will furnish the ice cream. We will play Bocce Ball, Bocce Golf (balls provided, but bring your putter), Corn Hole Toss and Ladder Golf. Bring lawn chairs. Inclement weather will move us inside the Recreation Center to our usual room.


The Meeting adjourned at 7:15 p.m. The 50/50 drawings were held at 8:30 p.m.


Following the meeting, The Villages Square Dancers demonstrated the basics of square dancing and members joined in on the fun.
