October President’s Message
“Fall is in the air”, as they say. I say, “bring on the Packers and the Brats n’ Beer!”
I first have to give a shout out to our Brewers!!!! On Monday Oct. 1st, the Brewers WON the NL CENTRAL DIVISION with a WIN over the Cubs!!! The Brewers just won the first series with a sweep against the Colorado Rockies!!. Go Brewers!!
Hopefully our Badgers are back on track after a surprising loss against BYU. After a win against Iowa and a bye week, we should be ready to take on the Nebraska Cornhuskers.
Then we have our Green Bay Packers! GO PACK GO! We have moved our Packer game gathering to the Cody’s in Lake Sumter. I hear some members are still going to the Brownwood Cody’s, and that’s OK. But we have more seating and more TVs at Lake Sumter, so please consider meeting us there! This will be our 4th Sunday at Cody’s in Lake Sumter Landing. Please make reservations through Bill Cammack (billcammack@hotmail.
So much for the sports, now on to the brats and beer!

November 19 Meeting
Singer, Kim Marie Manske, has been entertaining in Milwaukee, Las Vegas, and New York City. Her repertoire includes songs from the 1930s to the present. We welcome a fellow Wisconsinite (and Floridian, in the winter) to the stage in November.
The Club will provide cheese curds – always a popular treat; bring snacks to share at your table; BYOB.
Judy Cimbalnik is again organizing dining out groups. Dining out starts in this month and will occur in Oct., Nov.. and Dec. This is an excellent way to get to know other club members. If you are a single, Judy has a group for you. If you want to sign up contact Judy at email@example.com ASAP or by phone at 262-391-9869. To learn how dining out works click here.
PLEASE CONTACT JUDY BY OCT. 6
WI Club OPEN Game Nights are the 4th Monday, of every month at 6 PM at the Bacall Rec Center on Canal Street. We’re open to any card games! If interested, just show up by 6PM; BYOB and snacks. These fun nights continue each month on the fourth Monday unless otherwise announced. If you have questions, you may call Mary Ann Welke at 352-223-9358.
NEW SHEEPSHEAD CARD NIGHT!!
Tuesday’s Sheepshead is at Colony at 6PM.
If interested, please contact Hal Baumann at 352-259-6552 by the Saturday before that Tuesday. This will let Hal know if we have enough players for a table.
Remember this is a 25-50-75 table.
Also, if you know of anyone else that would like to play sheepshead, please contact Hal at firstname.lastname@example.org or 352-223-9358 and he will add them to the contact list.
We need your help
We are looking for someone to help out with our hospitality station. This consists of bringing paper cups, cream and sugar to each meeting (WI Club buys these supplies) and then storing it at your house for the next meeting. The Rec. center makes the coffee.
Also, we need volunteers to help set up and clean up after our meetings. We need a list of volunteers so that Jeanne can contact people if she needs help. Please let Jeannie Engle (608-442-0546) know if you’re interested.
Lynn Bartlett will be organizing day trips to some old favorites and some new places. Some suggestions are Hollerbach’s Willow Tree Café in Sanford (wonderful German restaurant), Tampa Bay Downs and St. Augustine (for the Christmas Lights). Watch for more details in upcoming newsletters.
Support the Pack at our Viewing Parties
We will be supporting the Green Bay Packers at the Cody’s in Lake Sumter this season. Please, kindly RSVP to Bill Cammack at Billcammack@hotmail.com or 312-304-7757 within 2 days of the game for reserved seating. This is very important so you have your seats and you do not lose out. In other words, RSVP or you’re NOT getting a seat!
This past Saturday, I had the fun experience with Nancy Van Rooy and 2 members of the Paradise group, in their golf tourney. Marilyn and Don Butenhof, Pat and Jim Heinz, and Greg and Marcia Miller also joined in the tournament. I think our 4-some came in at 4 over (that was mostly my fault, but if you only get out to play once a year, it’s bound to be noticed.) “UGH”
Last month we had Gordon Hamm from Stanton-Wiersdale Elementary briefly speak on the behalf of the school we proudly continue to support. Currently we introduced the “Change a Child’s Holiday”, by asking members to drop their spare change at the door. Again during our October meeting we ask you to reach down deep, past the lint in the pocket, to grab that spare change and deposit it into the jar. All money must be collected by October 16th so Gordon can reserve the Turkey Dinners in time. Dinners run $45 per family, so please be generous and “Change a Child’s Holiday”. I personally “Thank You for your contributions”, as will the children and their Families.
At our last meeting we also had a record number of new members for the month of September! Whoooooooo-Hoooooooooooo!!!! Welcome to our Club!
Don and Sue Broeckert, St. Nazianz, Greg and Eileen Fitting, Birchwood, Mark Griffith, Madison, Edward and Mary Hermann, Greenfield, Fred Hudnall, NY, Mike Sadowksy and Fran Matson, Brookfield, Steve and Noreen Nevrly, Green Lake, Ron and Johanna O’Brien, Fond Du Lac. Gary and Cindy Ramthun, Kewaskum/Jefferson, Donna Rieckhoff, Milwaukee, and Bill Zimmermann, Elm Grove.
Go Pack Go!
And the best of Luck to our Brewers and Badgers!
