THANK YOU MARYKAY CHILDRESS for setting this up.

Santa Visits Stanton-Weirsdale Elementary Schoolsanta-feeney
What do friends do if a friend needs help; they help! MaryKay Childress had a friend whose child did not get to see Santa last year and might not this year. MaryKay volunteered to help, contacted Mike Feeney who agreed to be Santa at the Stanton-Weirsdale Elementary School Polar Express night on Friday evening, December 9th. With help from Santa’s helper, (MaryKay-as Rudolph), and Helen Feeney (keeping the kids and family members in line for Santa), Mike was Santa for over two hours, giving out treats and listening to the special wishes of almost 300 children. THANK YOU Mike and MaryKay for pitching in to help a friend.

2016 Year End Review
Looking back to January and ahead to December 31st, club members can be proud of their wi-sign-croppedWisconsin connections. Packer fans are recognized wherever they travel. UW Sports programs continue to do well. Women’s hockey is ranked #1; Women’s volleyball finished

ranked #3 and one win from volleyball’s finals, and Men’s basketball is ranked #14 with bright prospects for the Big Ten season. To the Marquette fans in our club; I watched the Marquette-Wisconsin game and although Wisconsin won, I came away impressed by Marquette.

Dinah and I are diehard Wisconsin Football fans. Penn State was the better team Dec. 3rd so we will happily settle for a trip to the Cotton Bowl (1 PM Monday, January 2nd ESPN) at AT&T Stadium in Arlington Texas. Wherever you are that day, find a TV, alone or with friends, and cheer for the Badgers. At 10-3, they have exceeded many pundit dick-and-dinah-holidaysexpectations. Being the eternal optimist, I predicted a 10-3 record and they could well finish 11-3 with a win over Western Michigan, currently undefeated.

Personally, Dinah and I have had a great year, including several trips to see our grandchildren and having both daughters and grandchildren here for Thanksgiving. Daughter Darcy and our grandchildren were able to attend our November meeting.

May the joy of Christmas be with you and your families wherever you are over the holidays. Enjoy yourselves, cherish those family gatherings and cheer on the Packers and Badgers as they try to make us proud to say “We are from Wisconsin!”

Your President
Richard Thies
