May 2016 President’s Newsletter
Hello, again, loyal WI Club Lake Sumter Members….all 327 of you! I know many of you have migrated to the north for the Summer Season, and please know each one of you are sorely missed. But there are still plenty of us here to enjoy the beautiful weather outside together to wind up our fiscal year in style by playing games in the sunshine!
May WI Club Meeting Information
Annual Outdoor meeting on May 16…. Picnic and Games under the Pergola at the Bocce Courts at Colony Cottage Rec Ctr. This meeting, –heads up–begins at 5:00 p.m. so we can enjoy the benefits of Daylight Saving Time! Publix’ Fried Chicken will be provided by your club and the rest will be Pot-Luck style–Salads, Sides, and a few desserts furnished by you members, at your discretion. We have 5 2-Liter bottles of Coke and 2 of Sprite to share with all…including plastic cups, napkins, a few paper plates–all of which are leftovers from the WI Singers feeding. Coffee and cold water will be available, as well!
We will have a brief final meeting and then play Corn Bag Toss, Bocce Golf, Shuffle Board, and Bocce. Any members with portable Corn Bag Toss boards, please feel free to bring them with you, so we can accommodate everyone!! Remember to bring your Putters for Bocce Golf! VP Tom Stolt has procured all the instructions and rules for all these games. We will need volunteers to step up and manage each of these games at the Picnic, and I am sure we will have no problem getting volunteers, right???
BYOB and any extra chairs so all have a place to sit to eat. If any of you have small side Patio tables, bring them, too!
I am currently in the process of procuring a few token Prizes–Door Prizes– to be distributed at the end of the evening to reward great play and simple attendance! Yes…we will have 50/50 as always–count on that!
Paradise Golf Outing
I understand those of you who golfed together with the Paradise Club on May 7, had a very good time on the links and at Hacienda CC. So sorry I had to miss it. If any of you took photos, please send them to Nancy at: firstname.lastname@example.org, so she can get them posted on our Web Site. If any of you know how to post them on Facebook in our WI Club group. Find it by typing: Wisconsin Club Lake Sumter in the Search box. Feel free to do it there, too! I am loving what I see there lately…such fun!
After much research, Mike Feeney has this advice re bus and tickets package–going with AAA is your best bet – $130.00 per person. Some of the members of all 3 clubs agree and have done so already. It is the most cost effective and simple method! He tried! Thank you, Mike!
Here is a note to all from our Dining Out chair, Judy Cimbalnik:
Well, we have come to the end of our Dining out Winter Season. Time for some of us to head back to WI, for the summer, and some of you getting ready here for your summer activities in Florida.
Hope you all enjoyed your Dining Out groups, meeting new friends and getting to know them better. Some groups have continued to meet and have formed some good friends.
If you would like to get in a NEW Summer Group here in Florida, Please let me know ASAP and I will form a group.
There has been interest in the Snowbirds forming a Dining out Summer Group back in WI.
If you would be interested in getting together for Dining in WI, please let me know and I will form that group
Either way, have a great summer, stay healthy and safe.
