September message from the President
Hi all Loyal and New WI Club Lake Sumter Members….where has the summer gone?
Here it is September already and I am writing to let you know that your new Board
of Directors has an exciting and fun year planned for your enjoyment.
First up–our September meeting at Colony Cottage Rec on September 21 at 7:00
p.m., and you will be greeted by members Bill and Barb Cammack! The
entertainment for the evening will be provided by Rockin’ Rodger the DJ. Come
prepared to dance and enjoy! As always, bring your drink of choice and something
to share for a snack with your club members. Get there early so you will have time
to purchase your tickets to our Oktoberfest Bash, buy 50-50 tickets, pick up your
ID cards and Lanyards, etc. , and find some nice new members to sit and chat with
and share your summer stories with.
The cross club September golf outing reservations have been submitted. There
will be no more reservations taken for this outing which will be held September 26
at the Hawkes Bay and Saddlebrook golf courses. Everyone will meet at Tierra
Del Sol after golf for the awards ceremony. Be sure to refer to the Villages Tee
Time golf site to confirm your tee time and course. This information should be
available to you by September 23. Remember that the intent of this event is to
play with members of other clubs so pairings cannot be requested. This event is
being coordinated by Ray Haas. If you have any questions, you can contact Ray at
Wait, there’s more! You don’t have to wait till the monthly meeting to talk
Packers or Badgers talk! We will again be viewing their games together at Cody’s
Roadhouse in Brownwood! The first Packer game is on Sunday, September 13 at
Chicago Bears at 12 noon. So put on your Green and Yellow duds and let’s cheer the
Pack on to but the Bears into hibernation! The next view-together game is Oct. 4
at San Francisco at 1:25 pm. The two games in between are night games and we opt
not to structure group viewing at Cody’s for those.
The first Badger game is on Saturday, September 12. They are playing the Miami
(Ohio) Redhawks, and we will watch them at Cody’s Roadhouse Lake Sumter and
share our spot there with the RedHawks fans and On Wisconsin Club (Seabreeze
Club) members! This should be a fun time….we will be a Sea of Red, both schools,
and I am sure we will give out the loudest cheers!! Plan to join us there, and Cody’s
Sumter will be our routine Badger Games viewing spot again this season.
If you get this in time, and have nothing else on your calendar this Friday,
September 4, please feel free to attend the “Show Your Colors” event at Spanish
Springs Town Square and show your school spirit. Dress in your colors…cool
clothing…and bring your friends so you can all try to win the loudest cheers
contest!! It goes on from about 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm. Enjoy!
Now, for October! Our annual Oktoberfest will be catered this year by OakWood
Smokehouse & Grill! The event will be held as part of our meeting on October 19.
Tickets will be on sale on at Badgers and Packers games at both Cody’s
locations on the weekend of September 12-13. They will also be sold at the
September meeting. The cost will be $15.00. Don’t miss this opportunity to be
part of a great event! If you will not be back in the Villages much before the 19th,
please mail your check, along with a self-addressed, stamped envelope, to our
Treasurer, Hal Baumann, 2003 Ridge Spring Dr., The Villages, 32162, so you don’t
miss out on the fun! Even if you are already here in TV’s, you can get your tickets
the same way…by mail! Questions..call Hal at 352.259.6552
Looking forward to more excitement– mark your calendars for March 12, 2016 for
A Day at the Races for the Tampa Bay Derby! I will send out a separate mail to all
of you with the details, so it doesn’t get lost in the shuffle. Look for it soon….I
am expecting the info as I write this!
I am looking forward to seeing you all again, and I hope your summer was terrific!
If you have any WI neighbors who have not joined our club, bring ’em with you to
the September meeting and get’em signed up!
