Thank yous – This is my last newsletter as your President. I want to thank all of you who helped make this a very successful year for the Wisconsin Club Lake Sumter. First, I want to thank the members who came to the meetings, participated in the activities, provided valuable feedback, and enjoyed getting to know other members. You really made this a fun year. Our Dining Out and Game Nights have been particularly successful in helping people get to know the other members of the club. A great big Thank You to your new Vice President, Judy Cimbalnik, for organizing these events. Of course, we really appreciate Gary Gerke, our webmaster who also sent out all your emails. I would especially like to thank the officers who have served with me while I was Vice President and President: Helen Feeney, Vice President; Mary Zarse, Secretary; Bob Doome, Treasurer; and Lois Meidenbauer, Assistant Treasurer in charge of membership. They were an outstanding board and wonderful people to work with. I want to thank them for all their support and hard work. I also join Helen in thanking all our other volunteers.
In addition to our monthly meetings, dining out, and game nights, the club also coordinated the Tampa Bay Downs trip, the Lombardi play, Badger Bowl game, the Wisconsin Singers, set up the October cruise and 2 golf outings. We are an active group of fun people.
At our last meeting, you elected the officers for 2014-15. They are: Helen Feeney, President
Judy Cimbalnik, Vice President, Janice Collins, Secretary
Hal Baumann, Treasurer
Barbara Sphar, Assistant Treasurer–membership
The new board members have met with the current board twice. I was thrilled to see the energy, ideas, and commitment of the new board members. You can look forward to a wonderful new year with the Wisconsin Club Lake Sumter. Remember that we don’t meet in June, July and August.
Board Action – As you know, each year we donate the money from our 50/50 to a local charity. This year we only had a little over $500 in 50/50 money so the board voted to contribute another $500 from our treasury to make the following donations: $500 to the Wildwood Soup Kitchen and $500 to the Vincent de Paul Food Bank. We will ask the members to approve this donation at the May meeting. We want to thank Jane Berse and her helpers for running 50/50 each month.
Game Night and Dining Out will continue throughout the summer on the fourth Monday of the month. Bring a snack to share at Bacall 6-9 PM
Golf in September – Unfortunately, our May golf outing was rained out. We will have another golf outing in September. The Wisconsin Club Golf outing is 9/27/14. For those who wish to golf, please contact Marilyn Butenhof at the May meeting /picnic. The fee is $2 per person. It will be held at Saddlebrook & Hawks Bay golf courses with a social time at Glenview Country Club. It is a scrabble format and foursomes are picked randomly. I hope to see a good turn at this will social event and meet new friends.
