WI Club Lake Sumter Monthly Meeting Minutes, September 19, 2016

Meeting was called to order by Vice President MaryKay Childress at 5:54pm with the Pledge of Allegiance.
Mr. Gordon Hamm gave a brief presentation regarding the Stanton-Weirsdale Elementary School. This school has a student body made up of children who live in the Ocala National Forest under deplorable conditions. Mr. Hamm is raising money to buy shirts for the children to give them a sense of belonging. Initially, they were fund raising for 600 shirts at a cost of $5 each with a monetary goal of $2500. Due to the generosity of individuals and clubs like ours they have raised $3700. Because of the overage they will be buying 850 shirts. Some of these will be held in stock for new students. Mr. Hamm thanked our club for its very generous contribution. A donation jar was in place at the meeting for anyone who wanted to contribute.
Financial report was given by Hal Baumann, Treasurer. Copies of the report were distributed to the members. A motion was made, seconded and approved to accept the report. As of July 31, 2016, the check book balance was $4819.60.
The attendance for the evening was 60 members. Joanie Schachtner introduced eight (8) new members: Wes and Katie Olds (Columbus); George and Sue Ruiter (Green Bay); Caesar and Debbie Gonzaga (Eau Claire) and David and Connie Heiser (Milwaukee).
Entertainment was provided the entire night by K. C. Webb.
MaryKay announced that former Vice President, Tom Stolt, had a stroke some time ago. He is recovering and seems to be doing well.
“Spirited Prizes” were awarded for the best Packer/Badger garb. Winners for Packers were Martha Miller and Joanie Schachtner. Winners for Badgers were Mary Lynn Krueger and Gary Miller. At 8:00 pm the 50/50 raffle was held. Meeting was adjourned at 8:24pm.

Respectfully submitted, Bill Cammack, Secretary
