WI Club Lake Sumter Meeting Minutes – April 17, 2017

The meeting was called to order by President Richard Thies with the Pledge of Allegiance at 7:10 pm.

Announcements
Richard announced that a former Club President, Mike Feeney, is currently hospitalized but is making progress and may be discharged soon.

Richard updated the group on the standings of both men’s and women’s WI sports’ teams.

Reminder: WI Club Lake Sumter Game Night; fourth Monday of the month from 6:00-9:00 pm at Bacall Recreation Center. BYOB and snacks to share.

Tonight was the last time to sign up for the Tri-WI Club golf outing on May 6. Marylyn Butenhof was available to take registrations.

MaryKay Childress announced that the May 15 meeting would be an outdoor picnic around the pavilion from 6:00 – 9:00 pm at Colony Cottage Recreation Center. The club will provide fried chicken and members should bring a dish to share and BYOB. Corn-Hole Bean Bag Toss game will be played.

Business
Election of Officers – Richard introduced the slate of nominees and asked for nominations from the members. There were no nominations from the floor. It was moved and seconded that the slate of Officers be elected by unanimous vote. This motion passed. The Officers for the new term are:
President: Richard Thies
Vice-President: Jeanne Engle
Secretary: Bill Cammack
Treasurer: Hal Baumann
Membership Chair & Assistant Treasurer: Joanie Schachtner

Treasurer’s Report – Hal Baumann reported a March 1, 2017, balance of $5,050.58. Income was $179.00. There were no expenses. March 31, 2017, checkbook balance was $5,229.58. Accepted without questions.
Hal reported that on February 7, 2017, the Club had 446 members.

New Members – Joanie Schachtner introduced two new members, Ron Anderson and Kathleen Woit from Madison.

Program
Jeanne Engle introduced our speaker, Michael Edmonds. He is the author of Out of the Northwoods: The Many Lives of Paul Bunyan. Michael is a staff member of the Wisconsin Historical Society. He autographed copies of his book after his presentation.

The Club provided fresh Wisconsin cheese curds during this meeting.

Four 50/50 drawings were held at 8:30 pm.

Meeting adjourned at 8:40 pm.
